Facebook Sales Channel App will not complete setup

About a week ago, I installed the Facebook Sales Channel App in Shopify and ran through the set up. I was under the impression that it would take a while to complete the approval from Facebook's end, so I went to work on something else. The next day, I get a call from my cashier, saying that when she scans a product in, that Shopify POS is saying the product doesn't exist! I called Shopify Support to see if there was something wring with Shopify, but they confirmed Shopify was AOK. But then a lightbulb went off in my head and sure enough, when I checked, ALL of my products in Shopify we set to be available ONLY on the Facebook Sales Channel. I had to reset all my products to be available on POS and Online as well. Was really peeved that the Facebook App would have done that, and I lost a few sales that morning as a result, but lesson learned I guess.

 

Any ways,  After a while I checked to see if the Facebook Sales Channel app had synced my products in Shopify to Facebook, but nothing had been synced. Everything looks to be set up correctly in Shopify, as well as in Facebook, but the Facebook Sales Channel app keeps telling me "Make products available to Facebook. To start selling and marketing on Facebook, you need to set the product status as active and select the Facebook sales channel."  I have done that, and still nothing. 

 

So I contacted Shopify support, who of course claims that everything I have done is correct on their end and that it is Facebooks issue.

 

So I contacted Facebook support, who tried to blame everything on Shopify at first. Then they tried to tell me that the solution was to simply MANUALLY add my products in Facebook.  All 1000+ products. Manually. I tried asking Facebook Support "what is the point of the Facebook Sales Channel app if I have to manually enter all the products anyways!?!?" No response to that. 

 

I tried uninstalling the Facebook Sales Channel app and reinstalling. Followed online tutorials for setting it up. Wasted dozens of hours trying anything I could to see where I might have gone wrong.

 

Bonus info: If I go to Facebook Commerce Manager, I can use the Facebook Pixel to add products to my Facebook Shop. The way it works, is that when someone visits a product page, that product gets added to my Facebook Shop and shows up in my Facebook Sales Channel app page. I thought about using this workaround for all my products, but again, I have 1000+ products and don't want to have to do this every time I add a new product, which happens almost daily.

 

Not sure what to do at this point. I have a suspicion that the Shopify Support person that I talked to initially may have done something in the backend to get fix things. It really just seems that Shopify is not telling Facebook what products are set to available on Facebook, OR Facebook cannot see what products are set to available on Facebook.

 

I am down to my last few hairs on my head.

So I managed to get it working on my own. I noticed in a few posts here and on Reddit that people suggested reinstalling the Facebook Sales Channel app to solve other problems, and some of those posts included the recommendation to log out of Facebook before reinstalling. Which I did and VOILA, my products are now syncing into Facebook.

 

I still have an issue where whenever I try to Create a Campaign under the Marketing menu in Shopify, it still is telling me to "Finish Facebook Setup", but I feel I am making progress. I hope this helps anyone else who comes across this issue.
