Flow lost all of my fraud filter data who is going to sort it out now

Shopify has announced that Fraud Filter will no longer be supported after January, requiring users to migrate their configurations to Flow. However, Flow does not support importing all existing Fraud Filter data, which raises significant concerns about the transition process. As someone who has relied on Fraud Filter for over four years and accumulated a substantial database of flagged fraudulent customers, this change feels abrupt and inadequately planned. It would seem reasonable for Shopify to have conducted more thorough research and offered a smoother migration path before implementing such a significant change. Who will be responsible for resolving this potentially disruptive issue?

Now its refunding all my orders, I have simply had to turn it off as I cant have all my orders being refunded. I have no choice now but to leave shopify

Hi @waxracing

That is a really good point. It may just have been a honest oversight by Shopify.

The Fraud Filter app is not nearly as flexible or robust as Flow, but they probably didn’t consider the migration of existing data.

I solely develop anti-fraud apps for Shopify specifically. I might be able to help you migrate this data. If you’re comfortable with that feel free to email me at dylan@getverdict.com

I would send you a Collaboration Request so I could take a look at your Fraud Filter app on your store so I could try to export the data for you to use in a Flow workflow to replace Fraud Filter.

Thanks @CindyMoraDev , but @waxracing is doing what I advise my clients to try and be more vigilant about which is trusting without verifying. So good job, really, not being sarcastic.

So I should clarify, I'm not asking for a login to your store, or using your store's login. Collaborator Requests all you to specifically control which parts of your Shopify dashboard are accessible, so what we do for our merchants is only ask for access to specific Apps. In this case you could limit our access to your Shopify Fraud Filter only - I wouldn't have access to orders/customers/payments, etc.

More details on how collaborator requests are different: https://www.google.com/search?q=shopify+collaboration+request+permissions&oq=shopify+collaboration+r...

But please see my answer here about Fraud Filter offering a migration to Flow from the Fraud Filter here: https://community.shopify.com/c/shopify-apps/flow-lost-all-of-my-fraud-filter-data-who-is-going-to-s...

Totally agree, we have more than 20000 rules over 3 stores and that will be impossible to achieve with Flow, specially as we block customers by email, and then by address so they can't create a new order with a different email address and same shipping address.

I do not understand why the can't just keep the rules that are already there to keep working

yeah im glad i dont have as many to do as you. This may be the straw that breaks the camels back for me. I need a company that doesn't keep changing things or when it does its an option to keep it the way it was

Hi @GabrielaP and @waxracing

I noticed that Fraud Filter actually offers a way to migrate to Shopify Flow automatically:

Do you have Shopify Flow installed? Perhaps you need to install it in order for this button to appear. It looks like a simple click to migrate your rules.

Yes i did that and it migrated 3 of them over. Its the other 1942 i am worried about

It sounds like Shopify sent you a CSV of these 1,943 rules that weren't able to be automatically migrated, and they're asking you to manually migrate them.

Is that right?

Yes that's correct as well as flow just refunding all my orders for the day so i had to turn it off. Why change the status quo that was working well

Same frustration here. Flow only exported one fraud filter rule. All of my current rules are set up exactly the same, so I do not understand how this is possible. Very disappointing. I do not see any straight forward instructions on how to create a fraud filter manually on Flow.

I’m in the same boat—I’ve been using the old fraud filter for years. as i check today, only about 1% of rules  moved to Flot. per shoplif description  Flot only moves new data that used within the last 12 months, its not good enought )  I tried adding one recently, but the process is unnecessarily complicated. The new FLoT system isn’t making things easier; in fact, it’s making things much harder and more frustrating. Honestly, I really wish we could keep the simple fraud filter. It wasn’t perfect, but it worked well enough.  God help us.

yeah i tried to use flow, its almost impossible to get your head around. I now have no fraud protection while i look for a better solution. Im actually looking at different platforms now as shopify is not very proactive in helping customers they stuff around.

Same, its stupid. I have several rules I have set up over the last couple of years. Only one exported and it didn't even export correctly.

If you're going to force your users to switch to something else, it better work better than this. I also have like zero faith in any Shopify in house apps anymore. They will either abandon them or not listen to any feedback on users that have used them for years. C'mon.
