App reviews, troubleshooting, and recommendations
Hi folks,
I'm building a new app. It will be fairly complicated and need several pages, settings etc.
I'm trying to decide do I build it as a fullscreen embedded app or just build it as a standalone app outside.
I've been weighing the pro's and con's. I really like the idea of a standalone from a control perspective, I'll be in full control and have a lot of. I can also see the advantage of an embedded app with Polars, it will look and feel similar to the main Shopify experience for the merchant...
Are there any other important items to consider as I think about this? Are standalone apps being 'discouraged' - meaning I might have to move to an embedded app at some point anyway?
I welcome all thoughts!
Thanks
IMHO embedded apps have more requirements to meet.
If you feel your app needs to integrate closely with Shopify for whatever reason, than you don't have much choice.
Are standalone apps "discouraged"? I've asked Shopify and they've said it does not affect the review process. I'm sure they would like apps to be a certain way but then you're the developer right🙂
Perhaps think of standalone as an MVP. If you app gets some traction, reviews, then convert it to embedded later.
Just my 2c
