I have been using Google and YouTube app/sales channel for tracking conversions in Google Ads and sending my products to merchant center.
Recently, I have deciede to change things up a little. I want to only track conversion trhough Google and YouTube app and send the product to merchant center using Symprosis.
So I installed Symprosis and during the setup process, I accidentally turned on their conversion tracking as well.
After realizing that, I disabled Symprosis's conversion tracking to not interfere with Google and YouTube app.
But now, my conversion tracking is broken and I don't see any conversions in Google Ads under Google Shopping App Purchase, Add to Cart, Page View, etc.
I have tried disabling, waiting, and enabling the conversion tracking option in Google and YouTube app, but that has not worked.
Now I am thinking about uninstalling the Google and YouTube app and reinstalling it again to solve this problem.
(For further clarity, I want to use Symprosis to send my feed to the merchant center — and Google and YouTube app for tracking conversion in Google ads and sending data to GA4)
Current settings in Google and YouTube app:
- Merchant center disconnected
- GA4 connected
- Conversion tracking enabled
My concerns are:
- What will happen if I uninstall Google and YouTube app?
- Do I lose any data or break something?
- If I install it again, will anything change in Google ads?
- If there is a better solution to this problem, please let me know
I have heard this so many times, there should be no issues with uninstalling, as all data is located in Google Ads, not Shopify.
When you re-install it should re-install the conversion tracking.
A better solution is to manually install conversion tracking yourself. But that does require some development knowledge.
Alternatively use the symprosis conversion tracking method.
I re-installed the Google shopping app, but it didn't change anything. I still don't see conversions in my Google Ads. Still broken.
What other ways are available to fix the Google and YT sales channels? I want to use this app for conversion tracking
Hello, I have the exact same issue, reinstalling the Google & Youtube app is not reinstalling the conversions. Is there any way to force it to reinstall. I prefer to use the app conversions over all the alternatives.
My recommendation if you don't want to use any alternative methods (which I recommend for example installing the shopify pixel is better, then relying on an app that does not work, and has a history of problems)

I've figured out what's causing the issue, but I don't know how to fix it. I've created another discussion about it.

Dear Emmanuel, we also have trouble to connect shopify and google analytics using the google app (It say's that the connection is successful but we don't see any data in analytics). I think we have to take the manual method. Do you have a guide, such as a video, demonstrating how to implement Google Analytics tracking without relying on the Google app?

Hello Gerrit, when you connect to Google Analytics, make sure to wait 1 to 2 days. Google Analytics takes time to show data.
Hey, thanks for the response. Unfortunately, we've been experiencing this issue for weeks now. I've placed the Google tag in the header code and have been able to collect some data such as pageviews and users in analytics, but there's still no conversion data showing up. I've also attempted to add another code snippet in the checkout section, but regrettably, we're still not seeing any conversion data.

We tried talking to Google, but their answers are evasive. However, we will try again. If we don't get any help from Google, do you have a link or video on how to manually connect Shopify and Google Analytics?

Thanks Emmanuel, but the app is very expensive. Is it so hard to connect shopify and google analytics manually without the google app? We just want to see simple data like visitors, conversions etc. in Google Analytics.
Did unistalling the Google app and then installing again re-implement the conversion tracking and fix your issue?
I have just reinstalled the sales channel today. I'll keep you posted about the results.
Are there any updates on this? We also use the Google & Youtube app and cannot find a tag on our site via the Google Tag Assistant. Everything is connected correctly according to the app.
