App reviews, troubleshooting, and recommendations
I'm working on a client's account that has sales applied through tags. When I click into an example product, the price and compare at prices are not reflective of the sale prices on the site. Our Google Merchant Center is disapproved because our shipping rates don't match what's on the site. This is caused by the feed not picking up the right sale prices and we have free shipping under a certain threshold so some of our sale products end up having shipping cost when they are free shipping at full price.
I believe they said they use Script Editor app to apply the discounts. Are there any suggestions of a better way to apply discounts so it gets reflected in the feed?
You mention that sale prices are applied using tags.
For pretty much all apps, that generate feeds, this will not work. You need to use price and compare at price for apps to be able to correctly work.
Gotcha, we're exploring GoDataFeed to help us create a custom feed to accommodate the discount tags.
Just curious, the reason our store uses tags applied by a script for the discounts is because our store has a tone of SKUs (>10k). What is the typical solution for stores like this that want to be able to bulk apply discounts that start and end on short, specific dates (flash weekend sale etc.) while also having a usable feed in Shopify? Is custom feed the only real solution or do people update the script to also change the compare at price? It just seems like our situation is probably widely used and the result being a feed that gets disapproved by Google seems weird after all these years.
I recommend creating a new question regarding options for implementing bulk discounts on a new thread so that other shopify members can guide you.
I specialize in Google Shopping, but certain Shopify features I do not know much about.
Hi Isaiah, I see that you're exploring our GoDataFeed app. If you open a support ticket with details on what you're trying to achieve in Merchant Center, I'm sure we can come up with a solution for you.
