Google sales channel won’t open

My store has been launched and I’ve set up my google merchant account and confirmed my online store but I can’t access the google & YouTube sales channel from the shopify app. When I click on it I am just met with an error message saying shopify refused to connect, I can’t find anything online can anybody help? Is it essential that I access this sales channel to have my products listed on google or can I do this purely by google merchant?

That sounds like a technical issue, not something community members can fix. The only option is for you to contact Shopify or Google, but good luck with that, they will just point the finger at each other, not really helping, you, the merchant.

We have seen similar cases before and a common solution is to uninstall and reinstall the Google & YouTube Channel. Could you please try doing so to see if it fixes the problem?

If reinstalling the channel doesn't allow you to access it without any issues, you can head over to our Help Center. They can also communicate with the relevant escalated team on your behalf to ensure a resolution.

While you can use Google Merchant Center independently to list your products, the Google and YouTube sales channel provides a seamless integration as it syncs your Shopify store with Google Merchant Center. We do recommend using our sales channel, however, if you want to explore using Google Merchant Center you can refer to their help center for a guide on listing products independenly.
