GraphQL error: Invalid input when requesting protected customer data access

I need to request a protected customer data access in order to be able to install a webhook orders/create in my test application. I fill out the form on the shopify partners dashboard (API access | Protected customer data access), but after pressing the button Save an "GraphQL error: invalid input" occurs. I still can't install webhook orders/create for my developer store in my test app using REST API. API response - "You do not have permission to create webhooks with orders/create topic. This topic contains protected customer data".

Hi, did you ever manage to solve this issue? Encountering the same thing...

No. Unfortunately, the problem was never resolved. We had to pause the shopify app because we couldn't install some webhooks. We are still hoping for a response from support.

I'm having almost the exact same problem as you. I need to access a few customers metafield (a specific one) but got "This app is not approved to access the Customer object.". So I tried to fill in the information in step 1 but got (as you) the red box with the text  "GraphQL error: invalid input",  and the information is not saved. But when I refresh the page is seems to have saved after all but nothingt has updated for a few days and it still says "draft" for me. Have you heard any update this seems to be a BIG and anooying issue that no staff seems to recognize. And I have the scopes I need as well so that is not the issue, I think.

Unfortunately there is no any news in this issue. It seems that the shopify developers are not paying attention to this bug.

I have chatted with the shopify support and the shopify partners support about this issue. So fingers crossed

OMG, I don't know if this will fix it for anyone else but in the partners dashboard under "configuration" (after selecting your app in your app list), then under "Event version" make sure that the latest is selected (as of now it's 2024-04). I noticed that mine wasn't set at the lastest and I changed that. After that I tried to save the changes for my protected customer data and I DID NOT recieve the error mentioned above, Instead I got a message saying it saved. But it is still marked as a draft for me. I just though that I should post this just in case this was the issue

EDIT- And now I can make queries for customer endpoints, YES!
Let me know if this works for anyone else or if I'm just the lucky one
