Has anyone paid someone to create an app for their idea?

I've created a solution for a very common problem on Shopify.

I have all the work done and it works, but I don't know the first thing about how to put that into an app.

Hi @QDD

Yes usually it works like that 😀

Store owners have some problems, some pains and get an idea how to sort it out and then pay someone to put that into the app. It could be an app just for you, but if you think it is a common problem and there is no similar app that solves the same problem, it could be a public app and be sold on the Shopify app store. It is great that you have found a solution, and if it works for you, but why create an app?  If all work is done.

You can try maybe https://gadget.dev/  just to test and see if it can be an app. Then continue with plan and pay someone to make a proper app.

Good luck

Kind regards

Hey there @QDD  I know of a few people who have done this successfully with the help of proven freelancers off platforms such as Upwork and Fiverr, so my recommendation to you will be to find skilled developers with experience in creating Shopify apps on those kind of platforms to eliminate the risk of scamming and other issues.

Its a great suggestion.   How do you prevent someone from just taking your idea?   Can anyone recommend someone?

Yes, many people hire developers or agencies to turn their Shopify app ideas into working apps. Since you already have a solution that works, the next step is usually to find someone with Shopify app development experience who can help you build and publish it.

A few things to keep in mind:

  • Make sure the developer understands Shopify’s API and app submission process.

  • Clearly communicate your requirements.

  • Custom app development costs vary widely depending on complexity.

  • Testing is important before publishing or launching the app.
