App reviews, troubleshooting, and recommendations
I was just wondering whether it was possible to host a remix app on firebase, I've done websites before but I've been trying to figure this out and I'm a little confused. Any ideas or guides on this?
Hi @Wabz
Of course, you can host your Remix app anywhere (even on a physical machine if you like), as long as it has internet connectivity (public URL) and the Shopify app credentials. Which part of the hosting confused you?
Theres no exact guide on it and I've been trying to get it work for a dozen hours now. I set up hosting in the same folder as the remix app and tried to setup firebase functions for the dynamic parts in ./shopifyapp but i dont know if im doing it wrong but i can't get it to work. I did the setup with firebase init functions and firebase init hosting. I've been messing around with it trying to get it to run what i get on shopify app build to no avail. Have any ideas or a simple guide? I tried following a general remix one but it didnt help really.
@Wabz are you after a guide on running Remix app on Firebase or what is required for setting up a Shopify app? Or both?
For deploying a Shopify app, do you have it up and running in local development environment booted by Shopify CLI? If so, your challenge might be more on the Firebase side of things.... Shopify does not care where your app is hosted (or even the stack, being Remix, Rails or whatever), it just needs your app has proper OAuth connection with Shopify API.
To isolate the issue, you could run your Remix app on Firebase without Shopifyness... just an empty Remix app, then incrementally adding the Shopify packages and test the OAuth connection etc.
