How can I add gender-specific addresses in newsletters?

Dear all, 

We would like to add a specific form of address when sending a newsletter to our customers, for example "Dear Mr." or "Dear Mrs."

Unfortunately, the pre-installed personalisations cover name and first name, but not the specific form of address. Our customers are tagged with their gender (f/m/d), but I cannot find the correct way to include the gender-specific address in our newsletter. 

Does anyone know a solution or is able to provide advice?
