How can I apply one variant to all products in a bundle on Shopify?

All of our products have the same 5 variants which all relate to the finish of the product (i.e. metal, plastic, etc.)

We are using Shopify Bundles to group 3 products together for a discounted rate, but we're over the 100 variant limit for the bundles as each product has 5 variant options for the finish. But people will always buy the same finish for all 3 products in the bundle, so we only need them to choose the variant once for the bundle, which should then be applied to all 3 products in the bundle when added to cart.

We can't figure out how to achieve this with apps (because we need the inventory tracking for the finishes) or with the native Shopify Bundles app. Anyone got any ideas?

It seems custom coding might be the way to solve this issue.
The most relevant option in your case is to hire a professional Shopify development company that can develop a custom app or extend the functionality of a ready app to work for you.

Just wanted to share the solution we found for this in the end. We used an app called Fly which allows us to include as many variants as we want and it's free - https://apps.shopify.com/fly-bundles
