App reviews, troubleshooting, and recommendations
Does anyone know of a way to change your POS currency to reflect the local currency of where you are? we are a UK based company but travel across Europe etc with pop up shops and are looking for a way to display local currency on our POS system.
Hey, @lauracawley97
Shopify POS supports your store currency only. At this time you cannot use Shopify POS to sell in multiple currencies. The currency that is used on your Shopify POS is the one set in your store settings in your Shopify admin.
If there is anything else I can help you with, please let me know.

Hey
would you know of maybe a 3rd party app that could be used to display it in local currencies while still using shopify POS
At this time @lauracawley97 there isn't an app that would have that level of capability to override your Shopify settings. Instead, this would require you to use a third-party POS terminal (non-Shopify) that may offer multi-currency functionality.
The other option would to be to create a second Shopify store with the local currency set for the additional location you sell in. And run your POS system through that Shopify store.
If there is anything else I can help you with, please let me know.

I'm encountering a recurring challenge that's been quite frustrating.
Operating a physical shop in a different country for the online shop, I tried Shopify's POS system. However, adapting the currency for this setup has proven to be a hurdle. I've attempted to establish a separate Shopify online shop solely for the POS, but encountered issues with the inventory system. Integrating a third-party app for inventory management across shops resulted in significant inventory discrepancies.
Here in Indonesia, local POS systems lack integration capabilities with Shopify, leaving manual inventory updates as the only recourse, which is cumbersome and prone to errors. It's disheartening that Shopify hasn't devised a more seamless solution for this situation.
Hi Dirk. You seem to be quite knowledgeable about POS/Currency issues and hope you can lend your expertise and guidance with an issue we are having.
We have recently switched our store currency in Shopify Admin from USD to BSD (Which is 1:1) to facilitate accepting online payments through a preferred payment gateway/processor.
In doing so, this created quite a bit of issue on Shopify POS at all four of our physical locations. Our daily transactions/register shifts, payments, and processes are not logged in the POS for some reason. We open new shifts, process payments and sales fine, but at the end of the day when closing shifts there is no history of transactions.
We have tried rebooting, restarting and checking for POS and IOS updates to no avail.
This is a BIG miss on Shopify. We would go to trade shows to promote and sell our products internationally. Not being able to switch to the local currency without changing the store currency is a BIG miss. People abroad would like to be charged in their own currencies not USD. and changing the store currency will affect all the sales statistics, pricing and everything which is NOT ideal.
Hey, @CoreFabrics
I totally understand why this would be useful for your business. I'd be happy to submit this feedback for future potential implementation by our development team.

Hey,
How did you solve this? We trying to do the same as you.

This is probably too late to be all that useful to you but Shopify POS is built on the stripe platform stripe doesn't really let you do multi currency with POS readers either but the readers themselves are capable of it. If you're in the UK or the EU the readers have the ability to work for each other you just need to set up either a duplicate store or create stripe accounts for the different currencies but you will need to have a bank account that can take that currency. If you want people to check out through your store though its not the best solution but just making payment links through draft orders will let people pay using their phone in whatever currency you want and keep your inventory making sense because you can still set up the location with inventory of the country of your choice and set it as the fulfillment location.
