How can I force an additional item into a customer's cart?

Hello,

is there a way or an app out there that forces the customer to add an item to the cart if they add a specific item to the cart?

For example I sell the item X, Y and Z. A customer put the item Z in the cart but it is useless without the item Y, so I have to force him (before the payment) to add the item Y too to the cart.

Perhaps the app called EasyGift will work for you! 

You can use Gifter for many things, like:

• Adding a free gift to a customer's cart when their cart exceeds a certain amount (this can be a hidden product you can't access normally)
• Force bundling complementary products that have to be bought together
• Tacking on a surcharge for certain products or order quantities
• Much more

Thanks for your reply but I'm looking for a free app, I can't spend 10$ each month just for 1 function (force to add an item to the cart, for 1 product only)

I'm unable to find a free app with this feature; however, a developer may be able to help you with some code to make this happen! I'd recommend re-posting your question in our Design board to see if members of our community can help you accomplish this with a code change!
