Re: Image Slider for Blog Posts

How can I implement an image slider for blog posts in Shopify?

Hi Folks. I have a blog hosted on Squarespace called REMORANDOM that I would like to move into my REMO Shopify store. For the posts on the Squarespace-hosted blog I use an image slider that displays captions on rollover, has forward and back arrows, shows thumbs across base, is nicely responsive, etc. I would like to mimic this to the extent possible on my Stories Blog in Shopify ... without paying too much per month. Average slider would contain between 5 and 10 images. Will eventually accumulate hundreds of sliders as the posts will be regular.

Can someone take a look at the REMORANDOM sliders and recommend a Shopify app for me?

Hi there!

After doing a bit of digging, this app seems to be good option at a fairly low price: https://apps.shopify.com/good-photo-galleries

It offers image slider functionality for blog posts, while most apps only seem to offer sliders for products pages.

Alternatively, we could custom code a solution for you that would allow you to add images to each post's meta fields, and have them automatically render as a slideshow on the front end.

Hope that helps!

Thanks! Although ... one of the reviews mentions that a link to the app appears at the base of every slider. Although maybe that's just the free version. I found this article yesterday. It recommends 8 alternatives. Have you heard of any of them? Also, we might end up refreshing our theme (now 6 years old) ... and I'm hoping that won't upset any apple carts for chosen installed slider app.

I haven't heard of any of those specifically. Being a developer, I almost always opt to custom code things like this so that I don't have to pay monthly fees and have complete control over how it looks and functions.

Cheers!
