How can I overcome search and discovery limitations on collection page filters?

Hello Shopify Community,

I am exploring the functionality of the Shopify Search and Discovery app, particularly in creating distinct categories of filters for my collection pages to enhance user navigation. However, I've hit a snag due to the app's apparent limitation where a source, once used in a filter, cannot be reused in another filter, and selecting relevant tags for each filter has become a challenge.

Here's what I am aiming to accomplish: I want to create a filter with a source set as 'tag', select the relevant tags for that filter, and then create another filter, again with the source as 'tag', but with a different set of tags. However, it seems that once a tag is used in a filter, it can't be used again in a subsequent filter.

This limitation is hindering my ability to fully customize the filtering system on my collection pages as per my preferences. I am wondering if there is a workaround or a feature within the app that I may have overlooked which could enable the reuse of a source, or the selection of relevant tags for each filter.

Your insights and recommendations would be incredibly valuable and appreciated. This functionality could significantly improve the navigability and overall user experience on my site.

solution is to use metafields

Hi.

I tried to do the the same but without using metafields. 

First create filter groups which you want to show on product page for example (you have to add min 1 tag to create them but you can delete it after):

Coffee

milk

tea

then select the tag you want to assign to all three groups and click "assign to group". This make you able to add them to different groups:

The hint is that you have to know before you start all your filter options for your categories. Once you defined them you create all goups with a dummy tag to create the groups. Once you have the group structure created you simply add any tag to how many filter groups you want. Select manual sorting so you can show them on your page as you want. No metafields or extra data needed. It is all there.
