Re: How to Create a Members-Only Area

How can I set up a password-protected area for freebies?

Hi,

Is there a way to create a members-only area (kind of like a freebie library) for my Shopify store? For example, I want to offer digital download freebies to customers but only want it visible to those that have the password to access it. Is there a way to do this?

Hi, @!

This isn't a native feature available within Shopify settings however I can recommend the app below for you -

This app allows you to restrict guest access to certain areas of your website (using a password protected page) which is exactly what you're after! There are also 3 different priced plans available as well as a Free plan (limits on this plan) so I would suggest checking it out!

What app do you currently use to sell your Digital Products?

Alongside the above app, I would also to suggest Easy Digital Products. This app will allow you to easily sell digital products by attaching files to your products or variants, and tracking all the orders for those products within the app. You'll also be able to import your own license keys, or have the app generate unique ones for each order.

Easiest way would be to use the Locksmith app: https://apps.shopify.com/locksmith.

You don't necessarily need an app for managing the downloadable items. If you just want to have a download link for the freebie on a page, upload the freebie in Settings > Files, add a link to the file on a page and then protect that page with Locksmith.

Alternatively, offer the freebie as an incentive to sign up for you email list and send the code to access the freebie page in the subscription confirmation email.

Locksmith is pricey for those just starting out and are limited in budget. Is there a code that can be implemented easily without breaking things that can lock of a collection and ensures that when a customer clicks "shop all" that the items in that particular members only collection do not appear?

I tried to use the b2b login lock app  and it did not work well either as when you lock a collection and link it to the store, yes while it does lock of the collection via specified url, if a customer clicks show all or shop all, then all the hidden products actually show up. They are not hidden and if you hide them in the products page setting then they are not viewable in the hidden collection after login.

Can a Shopify expert help with this or someone that can share code for such?

Hello, is it also possible to hide the whole product?
I need a restricted Collection, you should only see the products when you logged in.
