How can I use Apple Pay with discounts on a Turbo theme?

I want to be able to use apple pay with shopify discounts, and I've been searching for a solution for a while.  The theme that I use is called Turbo by a company called Out of the Sandbox. The additional checkout buttons (apple pay, paypal, etc) currently appear on the cart page, and the shopify discounts field appears on the checkout page.

On the following shopify help page: https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/payments/accelerated-checkouts/apple-pay

I found this advice:

"

Customer can't enter a discount code

Your customers can use discount codes with Apple Pay only if they enter a discount code on the checkout page before clicking the Apple Pay button. If you show the Apple Pay button on the cart page, then your customers can't go to the checkout page to enter a discount code. To make sure your customers can use discount codes with Apple Pay, you need to show the Apple Pay button on the checkout page.

"

Following the link in that page, led to instructions to remove the code for additional_checkout_buttons.  It was implied that removing this code would cause the checkout buttons to appear on the checkout page.  I did this, but only the paypal button reappeared on the checkout page.  The Shop Pay and Apple Pay buttons did not.

The other advice I found was to use an app to add a discount code on the cart page, so that when customers are still in the cart page, they can hit the Apple Pay button, and use the discount.  Unfortunately the app I used called dcode - Discount in Cart, while displaying the discount on the cart page when a discount code was added, was unable to update the actual total displayed by the Apple Pay pop up when the Apple Pay button was clicked.   I contacted their tech support, and they said yes, there was nothing they could do about actually updating the total amount sent to Apple Pay.

This of course is quite misleading to customers, and leaves them frustrated.  I wasn't even aware it was doing it for a few months.

Anyways if anyone can make any suggestions, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thank you

@dakperera

I'd recommend contacting Out of the Sandbox to see if they can assist with making the changes, or provide a reason as to why removing the accelerated snippet didn't remove Shop Pay and Apple Pay. Alternatively, if someone from the community isn't able to provide an answer, then you could look into hiring a Shopify Expert to complete this request for you.

I actually did reach out to Out of the Sandbox's tech support a few months ago about this issue.  Their knowledge was pretty limited, and they basically suggested the same advice as the shopify help page, i.e. removing the additional_buttons code from the cart page.  Beyond that they said that the actual check out page, and its code was Shopify's domain, and to check with them, or hire a shopify expert.

It was when I actually looked into getting a shopify expert, that someone suggested simply getting an app that allows the discount code to be entered on the cart page, as a work around.  As mentioned earlier I installed an app called dcode that seemed to do just that, but as it turned out, the amount they calculated wasn't actually passed on to Apple Pay.  If anyone knows of an app that can actually do this, I'd really like to know.

It's probably easier to do that, than hire a shopify expert to move the check out buttons, assuming that can be done as well.

Thank you
