App reviews, troubleshooting, and recommendations
I'd like to see when each of the products in my store was created (or published) so that I can determine which items should go on clearance, which brands sell fastest, etc. It doesn't seem like the publish date is shown anywhere on Shopify (which is pretty shocking).
If not possible on Shopify itself, is there an app I can use to see the publish/created dates for each product? I do not mind if it's on the site or if I have to export the product data to a CSV.
If I do have to do it through an app, a free one would obviously be preferred.
I assumed this would be a common ask but can't seem to find a solution anywhere.

This is an accepted solution.
Seeing the date that an item was published in the store is important to me, too.
I found a way to do this...
1. From your Shopify Admin Dashboard, click on PRODUCTS
2. Click to select ALL products in your shop (the square at the top of the product list), then click on SELECT ALL IN THIS STORE
3. Click on BULK EDIT
4. Click the COLUMNS button, and choose ONLINE STORE
This turns on the ONLINE STORE SCHEDULE column, and all the dates and times are shown of when a product was published.
I WISH Shopify had a report for this that could be viewed easily and saved, but until they do - this work-around has been working for me.
I hope this helps!

Hello @Groupie,
At the moment, there is no way to view the date each product was created or published directly in the Shopify Admin. However, there is a neat little hack that will allow you to get this data. If you add /products.json to the end of your store URL, this will give you an array of all products in your store, along with the metadata for when each product was made available. For example, this would look something like example-store.myshopify.com/products.json.
The Store Activity section of your Admin will also give you a breakdown of all the activity in your online store, including when products were published. This is typically located in the righthand sidebar of your Admin. If you're finding the .json method difficult to navigate, then this would be a good workaround.
Alternatively, there is an app called Xporter Data Export Tool I recommend checking out. This app will allow you to view a report that displays the date each product was created. It also includes a free trial, so you can see if it will suit your needs. If you ever need any assistance in getting this report through the app, the developers also have Live Chat, which you can access directly on their FAQ page.
Kind & Best regards,

None of these solutions are quite what I'm looking for:
1. The products.json solution provides me with a huge wall of text (not a csv) and only has about 1/4 of our products
2. Store Activity has the data I need, but won't let me export it.
3. The app might work, but it is not free. This is a pretty simple task and an activity I only need to do once in a while, so a monthly subscription seems uncessary.
Are there no better solutions?
The json solution could work (I can convert it to a table) if it had all of the products
Late answer in case someone is looking for something similar, you put the url of the product + /products.json, and the product information comes out including the creation, selecting Pretty-print shows the information sorted.
Hi There - our Report Toaster app can help. Our standard Product report template can show both create and published date. You can also filter or sort by either if you wish. Please feel free to take a look. Thanks!
Thanks. I'm looking at the app. It's solid so far. Is there a way to add "Sold_at" as a column to Products? I'd like to identify sell-through rates / turnover times by vendor
Did you find a solution to this? The data must exist within Shopify, as we are able to sort Products by Created Newest/Oldest, but I cannot figure out how to access it. Maddening.
@Groupie - I figured out how to automatically add a tag for the date of creation using Shopify Flow if you're interested!
I would be interested if you don't mind! Is this able to back date and add to current products or just new ones as we create them?
Report Toaster will work for historical products as well.
@Mel-Tragic
The flow that I created will add 3 tags to products:
1) New (For me, this adds products to an automatic "New Releases" collection. Can delete if unwanted.)
2) A tag for the date the item was created, in the format Apr 3 2023 (You can edit this with different % labels, I had to Google to figure this out.)
3) A tag for the Week of the year that the item was created, ex. Week 13 - 2023. (This makes it easy for me to see exactly how many weeks old an item is. Can be deleted if unwanted.)
And yes, I was able to go back and run the flow on all my old items (Products > Select All > Bulk Edit > Run Flow Automation). IF YOU DO THIS, remove the "New" tag from the flow. I accidentally added that tag to EVERY item in my catalog, lolol. Oops!
Thanks for this. I get the error "createdAT" is invalid. Replace this variable."
Hmm. I'm not sure why. Mine has run correctly as recently as Saturday.
Hi @Groupie
Claudia here from Better Reports.
Have you been able to find a solution? If not, I would recommend our app Better Reports for this.
From our Inventory reports, you can access both the product and variant created_at date and the product published_at date. We can also include a custom field showing the number of days since the variant or product last sold, and also create a sell-through measure.
In addition to this, Better Reports has more than 60 built-in reports available out of the box that cover many common use cases for merchants. You can schedule reports to run at set frequencies to your email or Google Drive or export the reports in CSV, Excel or PDF format.
I encourage you to install Better Reports and start your free 14-day trial and I'll be happy to set this up for you.
What do you think?
2024年了,shopify依然没有解决这个问题。

Thank you!
yes, definitely working, but it takes great time to be able to view all of your items, as for me I have around 16k and it take me 1.5 hours just to be able to view 2.5k items, hoping for a workaround on this and yes, it would be better to be able to export it as csv.
Copy-Paste does not work, printing it as a file or pdf only supports the currently displayed.
