How do I stop customers from making duplicate purchases

Is there an app that will alert a customer if they are about to purchase a digital design that they have already purchased in the past? I need to keep them from double purchasing the same design on intant download

I have tried a few apps but they were not effective.

You need to make sure you have your customer logged in. Then you can check the purchase history and compare the products. This require custom coding
