How does Shopify Marketplace Connect function regarding linked listings purchased on Shopify?

Hello all,

Very new to Shopify, but slowly figuring things out. Our store has existing eBay and Amazon accounts made before our Shopify store, and so the Shopify Marketplace Connect app seemed like a great solution to adding some products. However, it does not seem clear how exactly it functions.

For example, our eBay store has several hundred unique item listings, and we have linked a few so far. But, there is no information for what the app will do once one of these listings either sells on Shopify or the original marketplace it was listed on. For a linked eBay listing, if it sold on eBay would the Shopify product be archived, and inversely if a linked eBay marketplace listing sold on Shopify, would the listing be set as inactive or deleted?

Additionally, the real core question is also regarding selling fees. If an eBay linked listing sold on Shopify, would I be charged a selling fee for both eBay and Shopify? Any input here would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

Shopify Marketplace Connect treats Shopify as the source of truth. If a sale happens on a linked eBay listing - by default - the app would "import" a similar order on Shopify, thereby causing the stock on Shopify to likewise decrease.  If this sale causes the item to run out of stock, the eBay listing would either be unlisted or simply show as unavailable depending on your Out-of-Stock control/Good 'Til Canceled settings on eBay. As for the corresponding Shopify product, it'll simply show as having 0 stock - the app doesn't have a means to directly control information on your Shopify catalog. 

If the product sold out on Shopify, the app would be able to transmit the update over to the linked eBay listing so that the listing would likewise either be removed or unavailable.

As for selling fees - the app assumes you are aware of any associated fees on any platform you're using, which in this case is eBay and Shopify. The app is free to use for 50 managed orders (orders associated with linked listings) per month. From the 51st order onward, you'd be charged overages amounting to 1% of the sale value up to a maximum of $99:
