How does upgrading/downgrading an app subscription affect billing cycle dates?

If we are using the "STANDARD" AppSubscriptionReplacementBehavior option and a customer is on an annual plan, if that customer upgrades to a higher plan, will that:

1) reset their billing date and charge them the full amount for new plan (minus pro-rated credit for time remaining on old plan)

OR

2) NOT reset their billing date and just charge them a pro-rated amount for the new plan based on the remainder of the annual billing cycle.

Are there any official docs that cover this? The ones I've found talk about replacing current subscription but not explicitly about if that resets billing dates. Thanks

It won't reset their billing date.

If a merchant upgrades the app plan to a higher price, then the new plan subscription charge is prorated based on the difference in the plan price and the time remaining in the annual billing cycle.

Hope this was helpful! Cheers!
