App reviews, troubleshooting, and recommendations
Hi Shopify Team,
I’m currently developing a public app and going through the review process.
As part of my OAuth flow during testing (while the app is unpublished), I ask the merchant to enter their store.myshopify.com domain manually, since the app cannot yet be installed through the App Store.
However, I received the following feedback from the review team:
"Unresolved: To clarify, your app must not have the ability to install from your app UI. All installs must come from the app store..."
I understand that once the app is published, installations will go through the Shopify App Store and the store domain will be automatically passed. But during development and testing, how can I initiate the OAuth process without asking the user to input their store domain?
Is there a Shopify-approved way to test the OAuth flow before the app is published, without violating the installation policy?
Thank you in advance for your guidance!
Hi @Dropshipdev
I suggest you contact Shopify Support Team directly and share this inquiry with them. They can give you a better suggestion or resolution. Thank you!
I’ve already contacted Shopify Support, and they advised me to post my question on the Shopify Partner Forum. They mentioned that the Shopify developer team is more active there and can provide better assistance.
