Hi,
I have a shopify app and i am sending traffic to my shopify app from various sources. I want to know if there is a way to capture the source in google analytics

Example : below is url when a store opens my app
https://admin.shopify.com/store/{store_name}/apps/{app_name}

i am retargeting my customers with campaigns where url is  https://admin.shopify.com/store/{store_name}/apps/{app_name}?utm_source=something&utm_medium=somethi...

Question - is there a way to get these utm_source, utm_medium in Google Analytics?

To track the sources of traffic leading to your Shopify app in Google Analytics, you can utilize UTM parameters such as utm_source and utm_medium in the URLs. When promoting your app through various campaigns, ensure to include these parameters in the links. For example, your URLs might look like this: "https://admin.shopify.com/store/{store_name}/apps/{app_name}?utm_source=something&utm_medium=somethi......"

Once these links are clicked and users visit your app, Google Analytics automatically captures this data. You can then access this information in your Google Analytics account by navigating to "Acquisition" > "All Traffic" > "Source/Medium." There, you'll find details about the sources and mediums of your traffic, providing insights into the effectiveness of your campaigns or sources. Additionally, explore different reports or use secondary dimensions in Google Analytics to delve deeper into the performance of specific campaigns based on the UTM parameters used. By leveraging UTM parameters and Google Analytics, you'll gain valuable insights into how different marketing efforts drive traffic to your Shopify app.Hope that helps.Thanks

Hello,

We are sending traffic directly to our app's Shopify page through Google Ads or other paid sources. Users click on the "Add App" button and are redirected to our app's onboarding page. We want to track the the source of installs in our shopify app store listing. In GA4, all the installs are showing "direct" sources and not from the ads.

Thanks in advance!

Alex
