App reviews, troubleshooting, and recommendations
How would you make a pre-order for a product bundle?
Or how would you set a bundle product as a preorder?
We ran into a major problem, where we just learned that the Shopify bundle app don't work with preorders.
And the the preorder app (Globo Preorder) we have opted to use don't work with bundles.
How have any of you handled this problem on your end?
Do there exist apps for shopify that can handle this? Or i this something we might to do some clever code to get out of? Or is this just not possible?
Hi @mns-burg,
You're correct that native preorders (which use selling plans) don't work with bundles in Shopify. So if you require your bundle preorders to have a partial deposit upfront, or want to use any of the other native preorder features, you will run into issues.
However if you're just selling them as a normal bundle, you have some ways to get around this. For example, we run an Aussie-founded preorder app Early Bird, which has a feature built to handle situations like this. In addition to regular preorder campaigns, we also offer backorders - which lets you sell stock you don't have yet (like a preorder), but doesn't use selling plans under the hood, and so it avoids the limitations of them.
I made a video walkthrough which shows you how to set this up if you're interested in learning more. Alternatively, you can install the app for Free yourself and try this out. It's super simple to switch backorders on, for one product, or your whole catalog depending on your requirements.
Let me know if you had any questions about this process!
Hi @mns-burg ,
I have a workaround if you are interested.
1.) You could create abundle using the Bundler app. There simply add the products which you would like to offer as a bundle.
2.) subscription rule with the "Seal Subscriptions" app and set the maximum number of payments to 2.
Set the subscription discount to 100% and set the "automatic discount modification" to change the discount to 0% after the initial purchase.
3.) Add the same products from your bundle to the subscription rule.
4.) Within the Seal Subscriptions app, go to: Seal Subscriptions > Subscription rules > Fixed Schedules. There set the date on which your product is set to release.
By following these steps, your customers will be able to create the initial purchase for free. The subscription should renew on your set "Release date", when your customers should get charged and the subscription would end.
I know it's a bit of a stretch but I just wanted to include this workaround if you are interested 🙂
