App reviews, troubleshooting, and recommendations
Hi,
I have all my products synced and available in the Shopify Google App, however I keep getting an error on Shopify side telling me:
Barcode isn’t the correct length (needs to be 8, 12, 13, or 14 digits in length).
Whilst on the Google side I get:
Missing value [gender]
Missing value [color]
Missing value [age group]
I have filled in all fields on the Shopify Google additional fields, and ensured these 3 are filled, and I can see on my Google Merchant account, the products show:
identifier exists: No
For correct error and warning reporting only use Google Merchant Center > Products > Diagnostics.
When submitting product identifiers the following rule applies.
If a manufacturer has assigned a bar code, then submit brand, mpn (if available), GTIN and set identifier exists to yes.
If the manufacturer has not assigned a bar code, then remove the values brand, mpn, gtin and set identifier exists to no.

Hi,
Thank you for your reply.

Reference the above. I have already done this. This is my whole post, the sync between Shopify and the Google Merchant is not doing anything. Nothing is being updated. I have been making changes over the last 7 days, and except for the initial push of products to Google, there has been no changes to anything I have updated since the first push of products.
Is there a way to force a re-sync between Shopify and the Google Merchant store?
This is what shows on Shopify in the Google section:
This is what shows on Google for the same product:
Just to add more information, as you can see from the above post, I have also filled in the category ID, but I still get this:
Then the issue is with the app, not you adding the data. As this is a technical issue, contact the developer support, ie Shopify.
Okay, thank you for your reply.
I have sent them a message, but wanted to ensure I wasn't doing anything wrong in the mean time.
If there is anything I can do to force a re-sync, that would also be helpful.
On a related Note:
Is there any way to add shopping-feed-specific data to variants? On a product-level we can add information like gender, color and age-group, and those information get added to each viariant in the export (great). But we build variants over sizes ( S,M,L etc), so there is no use to add this on the product level. On the other hand there doen't seem to be any way to add the google-shopping-size-info on the variant level, oder "mark" the variant-title as the size for syncing with google.
Depending on the app you are using, it should allow you to added the size values on a per variant level.
If you are using the default free app go to your product > click on your product > more actions > google shopping > add the size value.
For other apps, get in touch with the support team to help you or check the documentation.
We are using the default free app. The path product > more actions > google shopping > add the size is something available on the product level and adds the information to the products. This is useful since all variants "inherit" the information of the product, so for exaple you only have to maintain the information "color:red" on the product and all variants exported to google have that information. however this can't be used if the variants differ in an attribute, for example var1. Size:L, var2: Size:XL. The app/frontend doesn't seem to have even a way to enter the information manually, and adding a metakeyword mm-google-shopping:size via API to the variant doesn't seem to help either.
For my clients, I use datafeedwatch which can automatically map the option attributes to any google attribute.
Alternatively, create a supplement feed in Google Merchant Center and add the data. https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/7439058?hl=en
