How to Group Products by Model in Orders, Ignoring Variants? Print order

I'm looking for a way to optimize the order preparation process in my Shopify store, specifically needing a solution to group products by their overall model, disregarding the specific variants of each. The reason behind this is that our packing boxes can accommodate up to 10 units of any variant, and currently, Shopify breaks down each variant in the order information, forcing me to manually count how many units of each model I need to prepare. This not only increases the margin for error but also consumes time that could be allocated to other operational areas.

Ideally, I'm looking for a functionality or app that allows me to see, directly in the order preparation workflow, a summary indicating "3x Model A" and "1x Model B", instead of "1x Model A - Variant 1, 2x Model A - Variant 2, 1x Model B - Variant 1". This would greatly simplify the packing process and improve efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Has anyone faced a similar need or knows of any built-in function, special setting, or app within Shopify that could facilitate this view and order management? Any suggestions, guidance, or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Our app ONA might be able to help you a little with that but our app mostly groups by product and variant so it probably might not be the perfect fit but that is something we'll consider implementing. Our app summarises like "1x Model A - Variant 1, 2x Model A - Variant 2, 1x Model B - Variant 1" but, in our case with our filters, you could select only "1x Model A - Variant 1, 2x Model A - Variant 2" and total the remaining units to fulfill for the selected models. I know it's still not perfect for you but just wanted to mention it.
