How to make Remix work with Django backend

Hey,
I'm trying to create an embedded app for shopify and I see that shopify recommends using Remix for it's app development, I just needed to know how can I make a Django API backend work with Remix app? One way is to call it's APIs from remix frontend but I'm not sure if this would fly with shopify's app review process?
