How to record California sales tax by county and city in QuickBooks online?

I am in California and sell through Shopify.  Shopify breaks down all California sales by county and city which is correct.  I am looking to download that information into quickbooks online and keep track of the sales by county and city as that is how I need to report it on a quarterly basis.  Does anyone have a referral on software that will do this.  So far everything I have researched just puts it all into sales tax in quickbooks when synced.  I would have no idea how to report based on that.

Hello @akbs92,

Good day! Gina from flareAI app helping Shopify merchants get $6Million+ in sales from Google Search, on autopilot.

One solution to this issue is to use a third-party app that integrates with both Shopify and Quickbooks Online to transfer the sales data by county and city to Quickbooks. One such app is Synder, which can automatically import sales data from Shopify, categorize it by county and city, and transfer it to Quickbooks Online as sales receipts or invoices.

Another option is to use a spreadsheet to manually enter the sales data by county and city, and then import the spreadsheet into Quickbooks as a journal entry. To do this, you can export the sales data by county and city from Shopify as a CSV file, and then format it in a spreadsheet to match Quickbooks' journal entry template. You can then import the spreadsheet into Quickbooks as a journal entry.

It's important to note that tax laws can be complex and vary by jurisdiction, so you may want to consult with a tax professional or accountant to ensure that you are reporting your sales data accurately and in compliance with state and local tax laws.

Hi @akbs92,

The Sidr Tax app is built to help solve this pain point for you. We aggregate all the info for you by county, city, and district, and make it easy for you to export as CSV. You can then upload the CSV into Quickbooks with the correct format, and this will help you keep all the line items instead of combining everything as Sales Tax.
