How to remove empty app embed block after app deletion?

I have created an app that utilizes the App Embed Blocks in Shopify 2.0 themes. Unfortunately, I keep getting denied by Shopify because when you delete the app it isn't acting the way that they think it should. My problem... I can't find any documentation on how to make it act the way that they want it to.

So when you delete the app, the code IS disappearing but it is leaving an empty app embed code section in the customizer (see screenshot).

Does anyone know how to make this empty app embed section to disappear when you delete an app that is utilizing the app embed blocks feature?
