App reviews, troubleshooting, and recommendations
Hi - I offer a product that has a free version which can be physically ordered and then shipped to customers. The product is set up as any other product in Shopify where the customer can checkout like any other product (except that it's free so they don't have to enter their credit card info).
GOAL: In exchange for this free product I want customers to automatically be subscribed to my email list at checkout.
Right now, I have the "Newsletter box" already checked - but as it stands now, the customer can simply uncheck the box if they don't want to subscribe. So....how do I "LOCK" the Newsletter box so they can't uncheck it, or just put some disclaimer saying that they will be automatically signed up for our newsletter when ordering this product? I want this functionality just for this free product, but keep the ability to uncheck the subscription for any paid product.
I have looked everywhere and can't find a solution.
Can you send me your shop link for easy to imagine
Hello @ThangCQ - are these free gifts for existing customers? If not how do people find your store and the free offer?
Hello @Website86,
Greetings from flareAI app helping Shopify merchants get $7Million+ in sales from Google Search, on autopilot! I am Gina, and I am here to help.
Here are several strategies you can explore to lock the newsletter subscription checkbox for a specific product in Shopify:
-> If you have access to a skilled developer familiar with Shopify's Liquid and JavaScript, they can implement a script on the checkout page. This script would automatically select the newsletter subscription checkbox when the designated product is added to the cart.
-> Explore the offerings within the Shopify App Store to find third-party applications that provide greater control over the checkout process. Some of these apps might offer advanced customization options, helping you achieve your goal.
-> Another approach involves segmenting your audience based on their subscription choices. Automatically categorize individuals who have chosen the specific product into a distinct list or category within your email marketing system. This approach respects their decision while allowing you to refine your communication strategy.
-> Enhance transparency by adding a clear disclaimer or notification adjacent to the newsletter subscription checkbox on the product page. This notice would explain that by ordering the free item, customers are automatically subscribed to your newsletter. This openness may encourage more customers to willingly maintain their subscription.
-> Reach out to Shopify's customer support for assistance. They may be able to provide guidance on how to implement a locked newsletter subscription checkbox for a specific product.
Ultimately, the best choice depends on your specific requirements and budget considerations. If you have the technical expertise, custom development could be a suitable option.
