App reviews, troubleshooting, and recommendations
Hi there,
I wonder if anyone has got a solution that can help with this scenario, My supplier has recently set a minimum limit on the order value they will process and ship directly to my customers.
I have the costs I pay the supplier in Shopify in the cost per line item field. Does anyone know how I can use that field to link to the cart so that people cannot check out until they have spent the amount needed for my supplier to ship the items directly?
I know how to limit the order value based on the prices I charge to customers but not factoring the cost per line item?
Thanks
Hi @PaulH2 👋 Search for apps that do checkout validation , using shopify-functions api, though likely you will probably need to set metafields or tags for such off-the-shelf apps to work with.
If using shopify plus you can have a custom app using shopify-functions developed.
Another common method is to use shipping profiles with minimum thresholds.
If using only the online sales channel this can also be done through cart-minimum-total theme customizations.
And possibly in tandem with using shopify-flow or another automation app like mechanic as backend redundancy to reject/tag invalid orders or/notify-staff; and set metafields with the cost-of-goods values for using in the frontend in total-price conditions.

Be very specific on the verbiage you use for these things to avoid mistakes in the business logic or solutions.
Customers have not "spent" anything before reaching checkout, there is only the cart total for the line items.
Or is this an accumulation of multiple orders for a customer to reach a threshold after they have paid(spent) for items.
And from the description it has to be assumed cost per line item , means "cost of goods" , not the cost customers will be paying/spending at checkout for individual item quantities.
If this is a multi-channel scenario you effectively need to be on shopify Plus.
Though a possible workaround is using shipping profiles or shipping apps that will present no shipping options under a certain threshold for the cart/checkout total.
