Hi guys, no doubt every store owner with shopify experiences the spam style customer account sign-ups with the duplicate names such as;
This is of course, not unique to shopify but any site with accounts. In another cart, we stumped it at least for the meantime by adding a new entry to the signup that the bot was not expecting (e.g. date of birth) - this is not what I am suggesting but since the bot accounts seem to have the same first name and last name, could shopify not take action to stump/confuse bots by not allowing the same first and last name when people sign up? It might stop them for a while at least.
Can anyone from Shopify comment if this might be possible or at least is Shopify taking any action to stop these prolific spam sign-ups? It shouldn't be a matter of having to pay for an app, surely stopping them is something important for every store. People have been posting about it on the forums for a long time and the only response is pay for this or that app.
You could use Shop Protector app for this.
There are 2 products, broken up by plan type, for SP (Shop Protector). SP Basic focuses on form spam and fake account creation.
