Inventory apps for product count on shelf verses stock room

Please help!! 
is there an app or way you can see the inventory you have put out on your shelf verses inventory in back stock/storage room.  Making it easier to restock and be more efficient all the way around? it's very time consuming managing inventory with just a "total" number in stock but also dealing with human error by an employee not noticing a certain item is low or out of stock in the store when we have plenty in inventory in the back. 

i know you can set up multiple locations and i guess sort it that way but I know there has to be an easier way.
