Inventory management apps for manufacturing

Hello,

Are there any inventory management apps recommended for Shopify shops that manufacture there own product. The challenge, fundamentally, is that each product we sell contains many raw materials. Some raw materials are shared amongst many products. So I would like to have the ability to say when the parent product is sold, inventory of each of it's component products decreases by one.

I have seen some product bundling apps but they don't seem to have any of the inventory management (forecasting, reordering, etc) functionality.

Hi,

You are correct, many of the bundling apps out there help customers bundles items during the checkout phase. Some other apps have the ability to manage bundles in the backend (admin area) but that's about it. This is being said, bundles is an acceptable solution if your manufacturing workflows are "made to order" and you don't need production orders (assembly and disassembly orders).

Stock&Buy has good support for manufacturing workflows which are documented here. Happy to have a follow-up discussion to take a closer look at your workflow 🙂

Stay safe.

Tahar.

Hey @Shawn17  -- I'm actually working on a product that helps organizing and facilitating inventory management, with specific features for produced goods.  I'd love to learn about the specific painpoints you are experiencing and if the solution I'm building can help out.  Want to shoot me an email at gary[at]explo.co?

Looking forward to it!

Hi @Shawn17,

If you are looking for inventory forecasting which most manufacturers do. I'd recommend using TrueStock (https://apps.shopify.com/truestock).

It automatically syncs every day and predicts how much inventory you need using machine learning.

You can also provide it with your stock lead times and it will automatically alert you so you make a new purchase order without ever running out of inventory.

Integrates with Slack too! Hope this helps.

Kind Regards,

John

Hi Shawn,

SKULabs kits are your option for just-in-time manufacturing and we have solutions for pre-assembly as well. You can choose to have your fulfillment staff verify the raw components or just verify the ordered lines during shipping. We can also help forecast your inventory needs for your components.

Check out https://apps.shopify.com/skulabs

MRPeasy is definitely one of the more developed solutions in the manufacturing software realm, your issue would be easy-peasy for it.

Hi @Shawn17 ,

If you are familiar with Excel you can easily do this with Mixtable. Create a worksheet to sync your Shopify products and their inventory. Then, create a separate worksheet to track the raw material inputs. Finally, use the familiar vlookup/index+match Excel formulas to calculate the inventory of your products in the relevant inventory column. When your raw material inventory updates, the Shopify product inventory will automatically update and you can one-click sync the new inventory to Shopify.

Hey!

I had the same question. We manufacture goods and are looking for a way to have parts deducted from the total count each time a product is sold.  Did you figure out the best app for this?

Thanks~~
