Is Google Ads Conversion tracking broken from GA4/Google Sales channel enablement?

I recently upgraded my Google sales channel to natively include GA4 data. Since I've upgraded I noticed the following - anyone else can confirm or deny?

  1. Ads tracking tag has decreased in total conversions + conversion value
  2. GA4 conversion tag in G-Ads, has a repeat rate of 2.0
  3. For the first time, GA4 conversions and value are greater than G-ads conversion tracking.

I don't know how to fix it. Any tips?

What you could do is check that you have no manually installed tracking codes.

By the sounds of it, it's double tracking.

If that does not work, contact Shopify support.

When I updated to GA4 in the Shopify platform my conversion tracking via the 'Google Shopping App Purchase' did stop working and is no longer reporting conversions in Google Ads.  I did learn, through Shopify support that Google manages the Google channel app now, so if you have any problems they will ask you to contact Google. Mine is not yet fixed. If I get a solution I will update.

Did this ever get fixed? I switched to the channel app and It's only reporting roughly 40% of purchases and revenue data!!??

I'm afraid not as yet.  I have installed tags manually now - I would have preferred to keep the Google channel but even if they fix this issue, I can't rely on it & I don't want any future issues - if I get any updates I will update on here 🙂

I am going to try disconnecting GA4 in the channel as recommended by @Kinglouie2 and check back on Monday - I'll let you know if it worked.

I got this fixed -- in the Google-Shopify channel, I removed the GA4
upgrade and now my conversions are tracking accurately again.

If you have GA4 tags already on your Shopify, I think you can turn off the
Google-GA4 measurement. It's redundant, I think

ah OK so you just disconnected Analytics in the Google channel? I'll give that a go - thanks

Hi Vicky - just disconnect the GA4 measurement NOT the Google Channel. Keep the Google Channel connected.

the google channel is still useful for other things like Shopping and Ads conversion tracking.
