Is there a way to have different language texted images?

Dear, with the Shopify App ''Shopify Translate & Adapt'' we are able to make different subdomains (.fr, .de, etc.) for our website and have it in different languages. We have now 10 different languages / subdomains. The only Major problem is that in the TOP we can only add 1 set of Product images. And since these are infographics (pictures with texts), this is conflicting. How we do it now it add the pictures in English, and in the Product description add also below the pictures in own native country text (for example French). This however is not very converting, because a Frenchman cannot relate to English and sometimes then right goes away again. Therefore we are looking for an option to also show a seperate/unique Image Set Per Product 'Subdomain / own language', so visitors can fully relate to the website, and don't see strange language which is not their own.

The most perfect would be if the Shopify Translate & Adapt has that as well, but it only can translate/add text descriptions...

Is there a wat we can arrange this on same Shopify shop / main domain? Because we have 10 different subdomains / languages, but we are loosing visitors because visitors cannot fully relate.

Thanks for thinking along

Hi @Mark1988

Welcome to Shopify community.

One question, are you looking to add the images, based on language, on description of the product or as the main image of the product?

Because if you are looking to add the language based image on description, it is provided on the Shopify Translate and Adapt app itself.

You can choose the language, go to product description and add the image for that language on the content editor.

But if you are looking to add the language based image on the main product image, then you may have to add custom logic.

Please pass me your store URL if possible on inbox. I will check and suggest the best possible solution.

Thank you.

Dear Sajat, thanks for your reply.

1) Main image(s) of the Product, since that the first thing what you see on top, and here vistors can scroll to the right to see the other pictures.

2) Language based images we already put down/below in the Decription, but with this vistors need to scroll down below, and they see now in Top the Main images in English and then under the Product description, the images in own language text.

So it will be this 'custom logic', i think you mean custom coding with that right? Would that be possible to add different Sets of images at the ''Products'' part within Shopify? Not sure if that is a fixed standard or this could be altered with coding, to make it something like ''variants'' (but then for pictures.

Hi @Mark1988 ,

Thank you for clarifying the issue.

Yes, by custom logic, I meant custom coding.

And to change the Main Image(s) of the product, we need to do custom coding.

The way that we can achieve that is

  1. Define a custom naming convention for each language. For e.g. En for English, Fr for French, De for German and so on.
  2. On each specific main image, we need to have the language code on the name (title) of the image.
  3. The custom logic will identify the language the site currently is on, and then fetches the Main Image of product with the same language code and display that on the site.

This solution should work @Mark1988

Please let me know if you need any help on this.

Thank you,

Sajat Shrestha

Dear Sajat, thanks for your reply and the way to do it sound great. With name of title, you mean title of the image 'file' i guess or the ALT text? Have you done this before and can you share a screenshot how this looks at the backoffice at 'Products' ? And please bear in mind that the Main/head image is always without text, it's purely focussed on the other images which local country text, called INFOGRAPHICS. You can send me a PM for the screenshot example if you want and then we can discuss the further details as well. Thanks

Hi @Mark1988 .

By title, I meant the name of the image file.

We did something similar for one of our clients. I will deploy that functionality on one of our development store and share the URL on your inbox.

Thank you.

Hello,

While Shopify Translate & Adapt handles text translation, it doesn’t support different images for each language.

I recommend using the EZ Product Image Translate app.

It allows you to upload and show different images based on the user’s language or subdomain. This way, French visitors will see images in French, and English visitors will see images in English.

This app integrates easily with Shopify and solves your problem of displaying localized images.

If you need help with this solution, feel free to contact me.

Best regards,
Jonathan

Hi @Mark1988 .

Our app(RoMagic AI Image Translator) can translate and save product images in bulk.

That should help you out.

You can try it.

Thank you.

Thanks for your reply Nake. You mean this AI app translate pictures only? Or it was it LIVE depending on which subdomein the visitors visits? Like Germany: www.example.com/de / France: www.example.com/fr

We are looking for a solution that per country subdomain the infographic/texted images in their own language will be shown.

Ps. the image text translations in different languages we already got actually. We need to have the right language be shown it right order to the right visitors (matches the subdomain language that is being visited)
