Is there an app to help with Amazon FBA inventory before it sells on amazon?

We are currently selling our products on Amazon Seller Central, and using Fulfillment By Amazon. However for the consignment inventory that we send to Amazon it is not technically "sold" yet and we cant recognize them as sold. At the moment we are using a new product where we transfer the inventory from our products to a placeholder product, then move inventory out of that placeholder once the products sell on amazon. Is there an easier way to have our consignment inventory tracked other than having a separate placeholder product to store them in as we currently do? It makes things very complicated and we would like to simplify the process.

Hi @-DM

Yes, there are apps and tools designed specifically for managing and tracking consignment inventory for Amazon FBA, and they can definitely make your process more straightforward. Here are some options that can help you:

1. Inventory Management Tools with FBA Integration

  • InventoryLab
InventoryLab is a popular tool for Amazon sellers that includes FBA inventory management. It allows you to track consignment inventory, sales, and profit margins while integrating seamlessly with Amazon Seller Central. You can categorize unsold inventory as "unsold" or "in transit" without needing a placeholder product.
  • RestockPro
This app focuses on inventory forecasting and FBA restocking but also tracks inventory movement from warehouse to Amazon. You can mark inventory as "reserved" until it's sold, simplifying your process.
  • SellerLegend
SellerLegend offers advanced reporting and inventory management, letting you monitor unsold inventory sent to Amazon, its cost value, and its status in real time.

2. Standalone Consignment Inventory Software

  • ConsignCloud
ConsignCloud is ideal for businesses dealing with consignment inventory. While not specific to Amazon, it can track consignor inventory, sales, and revenue split accurately, which can be helpful when combined with your FBA activities.
  • EcomDash
EcomDash provides multi-channel inventory management and can track your consignment inventory, linking it to FBA shipments. It helps ensure that your consignment inventory is managed separately without a placeholder product.

3. Custom Solutions with Spreadsheet Automation

If you're looking for a lightweight solution, consider using a tool like Google Sheets or Excel paired with automation software like Zapier or Integromat. This setup can track consignment inventory dynamically and update its status when sales occur on Amazon.

Note: Simplified Workflow Suggestion

Instead of a placeholder product, look for a tool that:

  • Recognizes the inventory status as "unsold" until sold on Amazon.
  • Tracks inventory movement and cost details without requiring manual transfers.
  • Syncs directly with Amazon FBA to reflect real-time updates.

Personally, I recommend InventoryLab if you're primarily focused on Amazon FBA, as it offers comprehensive tracking without being overly complicated. If you sell on multiple platforms, a broader tool like EcomDash might be a better fit.

If you need any other assistance, feel free to reply and I will try my best to respond.
Best regards,
Daisy
