Looking for an app that will allow bundles with stock tracked options

Hi Shopify community,

We are looking for a bundle app that allows customers to purchase items from a specific set for a lower price that what they would normally pay. Consider a supermarket meal deal, where you can select one item from the category "sandwich", one item from the category "snack", and one item from the category "drink".

We are a vape and e-cig company, so our bundles are along the lines of "choose any colour of (X Device) and any three bottles of (Y E-Liquid Range) for £Z".

Colours of the devices are set up as variants, for example: https://www.vapourcore.com/products/elf-bar-mate-500-pod-vape-kit 

Bottled e-liquids are set up as individual products per flavour, but each one may or may not have a nicotine strength variant: https://www.vapourcore.com/collections/elf-bar-elfliq-e-liquid

Crucially, we need the choices to be stock-tracked. So if a customer selects "Blueberry flavour e-liquid" as one of their options, we need the "Blueberry flavoured e-liquid" SKU to decrease in quantity.

So far we have tried:

Bundles.app - this works okay however it requires specific and set products. For example, we cannot have the above deal set up to allow the customer to select a colour - we have to specify the colour, which has meant we've had to set up a new bundle product for each item. Infinite Options - this allows for much nicer control over the selections made for each choice, but if you link a choice to a SKU, it increases the price of the bundle by the price of that item. When I spoke to their team about this, they said the only way around it would be to clone the product and have a version of it that cost £0.00, but then that defeats the stock-tracking feature.

Any help would be much appreciated! It looks like there are loads of options on the Shopify app store for bundle apps, but we'd prefer to hear some feedback from other Shopify users before we start testing them out!

As you figured out there are different bundle options available. Sounds like you've tried theme based ones which is probably your best option. The options apps problem is no inventory so usually come into play if you have more than 100 variants.

I would suggest our app but keep in mind the main limitation would be how many options you can define. For example you could set up:

• Option 1: Device Colour
• Option 2: Bottle 1 Flavour
• Option 3: Bottle 2 Flavour (third bottle would be missing)

If all 3 bottles are same then you could make it work by:

• Option 1: Device Colour
• Option 2: 3 Pack Bottle Flavour

The way our bundleup app differs from others is that you create/use a product as any other and then link up the component SKUs in the background so no edits to your theme are required. There are 2 main functions:

1. Inventory Management

It lets you connect up products to correct SKUs and we then update their inventory based on the component stock level. So in above examples each variant would be set up with what components it contains. The product stock would adjust based on what component stock is available. If a bottle flavour is out of stock the variant would also go out of stock.

2. Order Fulfilment

When you sell a bundle product only one order line shows in cart. We can update the order post purchase by replacing the order line with the component SKUs so you can fulfil as you would any other purchase. This option also reduces the stock of the component SKUs which then updates inventory as per point 1 above.

You can try my app, BYOB - Build Your Own Bundle. There are several vape companies using the app. So I think you may be interested.

We do support a price discount and track inventory. Here are some sample bundles shown on the demo store.

The app works by generating new variants. So price discounts can be supported. The way it works is similar to infinite options. But the app will generate the clone products and variants automatically.

When the order is paid, the individual items are added to the order and the inventory is updated.

The bundle inventory is automatically set based on the available inventories of the bundle item(s), including the inventories of the variants. Proper quantity will also be taken out of the inventory of each bundle that is being purchased.

It can bundle your existing products together and apply discounts on them, which means that your inventory levels will never be out of sync 😉
