App reviews, troubleshooting, and recommendations
Hi everyone. Im still learning Shopify and as the business grows I am trying to find ways to help manage inventory. Our business is about building gift baskets and am looking for something that I can use that will tell me when I reach low levels of component items that I will use to build a basket based on existing or forecast orders. Ideally, it would also print me a pick list that staff can use to build the basket. Right now I'm using Excel to track what I have, but can't figure out a way to reduce component inventory based on orders.
As always any help is appreciated.

Thank you.
Thanks very much, but this was not helpful to me. I am looking for apps that will allow me to build bundles of items and track the inventory needed t build the bundles.
This can also be done with a fulfillment notification by setting one of your emails up as a custom-fulfillment then creating the liquid logic in the fulfillment notification to give you a item table.

Generating a custom picklist from business rules could be done through scripting automation with usemechanic

They don't have an exact premade tasks but there are similar PDF ones showing how to build such a process

can't figure out a way to reduce component inventory based on orders
Assuming you cannot just export the inventory.csv as the key word there is components .
So the inventory.csv only has stock change for the sold bundled-item but you need a decrement for each piece.
This workflow could done in excel itself with scripting/macro's/forumulas but would be advanced an off-topic for shopify forums. There's also lowcode services like zapier/integromat to integrate with excel&shopify to build such workflows
If your using a bundling/builder app for customers to choose what goes into the gift-baskets you may want to shop around as some will create/sync the inventory of the component items. Opening up and inventory.csv based workflow.
There are also apps dedicated to synching inventory of skus out there.
Again though usemechanc can be scripted to sync inventory of bundled/component items.

Hi @RBB,
As I understand, you require to bundle certain products to make them a single gift basket. I am more than happy to let you know that recently we have designed a similar solution for a Premier Clothing Subscription Service that bundles certain menswear to sell it as a packet/basket.
We have designed the solution in Odoo ERP where all of the inventory management operations are available directly, so you can retire Excel. Apart from this, you can use barcodes for faster data entry and order validation. Video Link
So, basically, you can manage orders, Inventory, from the ERP itself by integrating it with Shopify via a connector. Let me know if this interests you and you find it helpful. Also, if want to schedule a demo of our previous similar solution, just straightaway ping me here or in the inbox.
Hey @RBB - I've seen talk about an app called Inventora on twitter that's supposed to be really helpful!
We have updated our app Power Tools with several new features, maybe it helps with your workflow:
Shopify App Assign Bin Locations
Pick Lists for new orders
User Smartphone App
Hey @RBB in the warehousing world this is referred to as kitting, and it is standard with every SKUSavvy account. Within SKUSavvy you'll create the kit which is simply a recipe of input product(s), and output product(s) and for each of these components the inventory is tracked separately, then you kit quantity is tracked, so based on the inputs is what becomes available for the kit output.
You can see the guide on kitting here, and if you decide to give SKUSavvy a try you'll also get a host of other features such as visual bin locations, purchasing workflows, inventory control, as well as order management and pick-pack-ship all done on any device.
