Mailchimp to Shopify synching is not working

Hello, I'm using the app "Mailchimp: Email Marketing" which correctly sends to Mailchimp our new Shopify customers, but it doesn't add the new Mailchimp contacts to Shopify as customers, despite the option is active (check picture below). Also forcing synching doesn't work.

I actually only use Shopify for email marketing, but some other apps collect emails and can send them only to Mailchimp or Klavijo, so I'll need this second synching from Mailchimp to Shopify.

Hey I’m struggling with the same issue. 
Anyone found a solution instead of paying 10€ per month just for a birthday field? 
if the sync Mailchimp-Shopify would work, I would let my in-store clients register via QR code Mailchimp form and then address the sale via Shopify to them. 
the problem is that once registered on mailchimp they do not appear on Shopify clients, therefore impossible to assign the sale.
