Mailchimp to Shopify synching is not working

Hello, I'm using the app "Mailchimp: Email Marketing" which correctly sends to Mailchimp our new Shopify customers, but it doesn't add the new Mailchimp contacts to Shopify as customers, despite the option is active (check picture below). Also forcing synching doesn't work.

I actually only use Shopify for email marketing, but some other apps collect emails and can send them only to Mailchimp or Klavijo, so I'll need this second synching from Mailchimp to Shopify.
