Hi all,

I would like to raise an issue that I have been battling with for some time now and I would like to get your input and hopefully someone from Shopify to notice because in my opinion the situation is absurd.

TLDR:

- If you have Published/Unpublished app and want to request new scopes you must migrate to the new Public Apps

- There is no migration path in place

- You need to create brand new app (new URL on the store)

- Your reviews will not be migrated to your new app, so you will be basically starting from scratch

- During the review of your new app, the old one must be hidden from the store so if the review process take longer - bad luck for you, no new installs

Here is the full story:

I have an app that was published about 1.5 years ago. Back then Published/Unpublished app was the way to go. Some time after that they have introduced Public Apps and now Published/Unpublished are considered legacy. In order to request new scopes (the app needs read_all_orders) my app needs to be converted to the new Public app type.

Unfortunately it turned out that there is no good migration process for migrating apps from Published/Unpublished to Public - you have to create a brand new app, with new app store URL and what is worse is that the reviews will not be migrated so you are basically starting from scratch. I am not sure how many apps on the store should be migrated in the future but the current migration path seems insane. What do you think? Have you dealt with such migration?

Regards,

Milan
