Need Guidance on Hiring Developer for a Bundle Builder Project on Shopify

Hello Shopify Community,

I'm a small business owner looking to hire a developer to create a bundle builder page for my store, similar to this one: https://drsquatch.com/pages/subscribable-byob#barsoap.

This project involves creating an interactive page where customers can choose and bundle various products together. Additionally, I want the ability to offer a product for free as part of the bundle, like Dr.Squatch does, which leads me to a couple of questions I hope you can help me with:

1. What type of skills should I look for when hiring a developer for this project? Is this primarily a task involving JavaScript, like React or Vue? Or will the developer need skills in other technologies or areas?

2. How does the mechanism work where a free product is offered as part of the bundle? Does the Shopify API support adding a 100% discount to a product, or is there another way this is typically handled?

3. How is the pop-up modal created on the page? I am assuming this is done via JavaScript, but I want to be sure so I can accurately relay my requirements to potential developers.

4. Lastly, how long do you think this project might take for a developer who has the necessary skills? I understand timelines can vary based on complexity, developer skills, and other factors, but I'm hoping for a ballpark figure to help me plan.

I'd really appreciate any insights or advice you can share. I'm new to understanding the development side of e-commerce and keen to learn more about it.

The good news is that there are a few Shopify apps that can help you achieve this, so you may not need a developer at all!

Bundle Builder is a reliable choice that has been around for quite a few years now. You'll be able to create a "bundle builder" page on your store, specify a "get a free product" discount, and set up rules that customers need to meet to get this discount.

I've worked a lot with Bundle Builder a lot in the past, and it sounds like it will do the job for you. You'll only require a developer if you require heavy customizations to the layout, and if you go this route the developer will need to have experience working with Shopify's "Liquid" language.

We don't handle client works because we focus on our bundle app. But I cooperate with different Shopify partners to work on custom bundle pages. I can give you some partners if you dm me

1. React, Vue or js are ok. It depends on which tool the developer is familiar with
2. With the latest cart transform API, the bundle SKU can be replaced by the individual product SKUs. You can make the free products as a component of the bundle.
3. Just send the page to the developer and the developer can handle the implementation. Pop-up is a popular request.
4. It depends. 1 - 4 weeks I guess. The cart transform is a latest feature so it takes more time.
