Option for customers to write in their order

Hi!

I'm new to Shopify and I'm trying to figure out how I can get my customers to write a custom note within their order before purchasing. Alot of my orders are customs which require my customers to write what they want down but I dont know how to do that within Shopify. I've seen some websites have this option in their websites where within the product there is a tab or option just like picking sizing where they can write something down.

I can help you out with this. What theme are you currently using? Also what type of customization information will your customers be entering?

You can use the order notes feature in your theme editor to create a space for customers to leave special instructions. That being said, this feature can only be added to the cart page. To enable this you'll want to go to Online store > Themes and click Customize next to the theme you want to edit. From there make sure you've selected the Cart page and click Subtotal on the left. The Enable cart note option should appear on the right. The steps are written out on this page here as well.

If you'd like a note area to be added to your product pages I would recommend using a third party app. I've included a list of some below that can add various product customization sections to product pages. You can also find more product customization apps in the app store if you'd like to look at more options.
