How can I automatically remove sold out items from the cart?

I have a very high volume store that does weekly releases that sell out fast. We have a problem where some items in people's carts will go out of stock and it takes a lot of time for them to go back and remove those items.  Then they go back to their cart and more are sold out, so on and so forth.  Is there an app that will automatically remove sold out items from the cart and allow them to check out quicker?
