App reviews, troubleshooting, and recommendations
We are reaching out to Shopify support and requesting that the data that is available on the Shopify Admin frontend to be also made available via the API. This will streamline the automation of the accounting process.
This for the Debit / Credit Transactions
This from A2X (which we rely on heavily)
In the raw data that we receive via the Shopify API, there are no details about the orders or transactions the Credit/Debit relates to. There is also no identifying information about the type of Credit/Debit or where it comes from. The raw data just shows both as 'adjustment'.
hi @PennyLoafer
Thank you for reaching out shopify community. I completely understand the need for more detailed data, especially when it comes to streamlining your accounting and using it effectively for automation. The current lack of detailed transaction information, like order associations and credit/debit types, does create challenges when trying to reconcile and automate the process.
I agree that having this data available in the Shopify API would provide a significant advantage. Specifically, being able to identify which orders or transactions the credits and debits relate to would help immensely in accounting automation. It would also be beneficial to have clear identifiers for the type of adjustments, so they’re not all grouped under a generic "adjustment" category.
