Preorder plugin that compatible with storefront api

Hi I'd like to ask if this is possible:

We want to release an item, the first 20 customers that will purchase the items can immediately purchase them and the items will be shipped out but once the items are out of stock we would like to apply a preorder system in which customers can preorder but pay a 50% downpayment.

and if there is any plugin or apps from shopify, would it be visible on the storefront API? since we are using a remix Hydrogen on our store.
