App reviews, troubleshooting, and recommendations
I have a Shopify public app used to access the API and manage the fulfillment of our clients.
Today, without previous notification, it's been delisted.
I didn't change the authentication integration since more than 1 year ago, of course, it was reviewed by Shopify back then.
Today, we couldn't go on with the normal onboarding of clients because they couldn't accept the permissions (warning appeared, saying app is not available).
The reason of all this trouble is that I didn't redirect to Oauth users that wanted to install the app, but didn't have an account in my system (my app only makes sens if you first registered to our system, otherwise why would I want to plug and access all the data of an unknown user of shopify). Anyway, I changed this, passing through Oauth any user that installs the app, and we are waiting for the review.
My questions are:
- Can't Shopify notify before (like google, Apple or Facebook do in their stores and services), when they are about to enforce changes, or they find anything unexpected. Senior developer here, never ever got delisted without pre-notice (even Epic was warned before getting delisted from appstore)
- How long will it take to get it back listed? Should we just release on vacation all our onboarding team?
Our app has been delisted before . You are supposed to check your API health for your apps in the partner dashboard. So that is your warning. Sometimes, you would get a warning by email.
So do you best to get on the good side of Shopify.
As for speed, it can take a while so best to reach out to your partner support directly if you are suffering.
