Redirect URI Missing Error During App Installation in Chrome

Hello Shopify Community,

I’m encountering an issue with app installation on Shopify when using Chrome. While the app installs correctly in most cases, on specific stores, I’m getting the following error in Chrome:

"redirectUri is missing"

What’s strange is that:

  • The redirectUri exists in both success and failed cases, and there’s no change in the request between failed and successful stores.
  • The error consistently occurs in Chrome (regular mode) for these specific stores.
  • The app installs successfully in Chrome incognito mode and other browsers (Firefox, Safari, etc.).
  • Clearing cache, cookies, and storage in Chrome does not resolve the issue.

Steps I've tried so far:

  1. Cleared cache, cookies, and local storage in Chrome for the store and app.
  2. Disabled all browser extensions to rule out interference.
  3. Compared network logs between browsers and stores that fail vs. succeed, and the redirectUri is present in all cases.

Since the installation works perfectly in incognito and other browsers, it seems something specific to Chrome’s regular mode is causing the issue, but I can’t pinpoint what it is.

Has anyone experienced this issue before or have any insights into why Chrome’s regular mode is behaving this way, even though the redirectUri is present in both failed and successful cases?
