Reverse Order Lookup Barcode App?

Reverse Order Lookup Barcode App?

Hello!

Our store is preparing for our busy season and I think I have an idea that would work well but don't necessarily know the right language to use to get what I'm looking for. Google searches haven't been productive.

I'd like to integrate barcodes into our shop. One reason to use them, in my eyes, would be so that we could scan a barcode on an item and then have Shopify respond to that scan by pulling up any of the orders with that item in it. It'd be even better if I could scan another item in that same order and have Shopify recognize that the combination of these two scans means the order number must be ---> the actual specific order.

Even if the action of scanning the barcode doesn't mark the item as fulfilled in the order, it'd be great to pull up any applicable orders upon scanning. This would bypass the possibility of a seasonal employee keying the wrong order number and not double checking the order name and everything to guarantee accuracy.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thank you!

  1. Use a Barcode App: Install an app like Stocky (for Shopify POS) or SKULabs. These apps support barcode scanning and inventory management

  2. Custom Barcode Scanner: For your specific needs, you might want an app that can scan items and pull up orders. EasyScan: SKU and Barcode or Order Barcode Scanner can help.

Steps:

  1. Install the app from the Shopify App Store.
  2. Configure it to scan barcodes and match items to orders.

These apps can help streamline your order fulfillment process and reduce errors during your busy season.

Thanks for the quick response - I don't think Stocky or SKULabs are what I'm looking for. Our inventory management is doing alright because we're not a big store. And we don't do in-person sales with a POS system. Everything is done through our online store.

EasyScan: SKU and Barcode doesn't make it clear to me that it fits what I'm looking for...and searching Order Barcode Scanner doesn't pull up a specific app with that name. Is there a keyword in the EasyScan: SKU and Barcode app page/description that would indicate it would fit our needs that I'm just missing or not understanding? Here's the app page

I'll admit it, I'm replying to my own post to bump it. Does anyone else have any idea how to identify what I'm looking for? All responses are appreciated!

Hey @VK9ApparelLLC I just reread your post.
If I build an app that does exactly what you wanted, do you think it would be worth paying $50/month for it?

Thank you for your reply!

I think to many businesses, it would be completely worth it. However, our business is pretty small and I don't believe we'd get the full value out of an app like that for $50/mo - at least, not all year long since our business is very seasonal. If it had tiers with different price points and usage thresholds, probably!
